LANSING (WWJ/AP) - State Police are reviewing security protocol for the official residence of the governor after someone broke into two vehicles parked outside.

Agency spokeswoman Shanon Banner told The Lansing State Journal the review covers "existing security measures and staffing to ensure a situation such as this does not occur again."

Suspect Dequinderick Jones, 24, was charged over the weekend with larceny from a motor vehicle and breaking and entering a vehicle.

Police say Jones took a Bluetooth speaker from a vehicle belonging to Governor Gretchen Whitmer's daughter, as well as a guitar from the vehicle of a state trooper guarding the home.

The Governor's official residence is gated with security cameras and armed guards.

According to the newspaper, a worker watching the live security footage saw an unknown man near the home and notified a guard on duty, who discovered the vehicle break-ins.

Gov. Whitmer moved into the home with her family after taking office in January.
