(WWJ) Her mother said she lost sight of her for just a few seconds, but in that time the tiny blonde tot managed to toddle her way onto the roadway -- and into the path of a dump truck heading full steam ahead.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa, stop, stop, stop stop!" yelled a Michigan State Trooper from his cruiser when he spotted the girl wearing a puffy coat, unsteady on her baby legs.
He jumped out of the cruiser and swept her up just as the truck whooshed by, kicking up wind and dirt.
Sgt. Richards from the Alpena Post was on patrol Friday when this happened: A 2-year-old girl was nearly struck by a passing dump-truck. The child's mother said she lost sight of the child for just seconds. The child was returned to her mother, unharmed. #ThinBlueLine pic.twitter.com/pJeOVRakN3

It was such a close call that the dump truck locked its brakes in an attempt to avoid the girl, police said.
"If not for Sgt. Richards's quick action, this incident would have ended in tragedy," officials said in a statement.
