A pitch black deer was spotted in Bellaire, Michigan, which is roughly 150 miles north of Grand Rapids.
John Roach, a realtor in Bellaire, spotted the deer, alongside a normal whitetail, on his property on Thursday.
“As I looked to my left I saw two deer in the lane that runs to the back of the property- nothing unusual except that one was typical and one was pitch black.”
Roach posted the photos on Facebook.
The deer has a genetic mutation called melanism, rarer than albinism, caused by the animals body producing too much pigment called melanin.
