DETROIT (WWJ) -- An investigation is ongoing after an innocent teenage bystander on a minibike was reportedly killed when a speeding car lost control on Detroit's east side Wednesday night.
A report from WDIV in Detroit says just after 7 p.m. a 15-year-old boy was in a front yard of a house in the area of East Robinwood and Helen Streets when a white Chevy Impala ran through a stop sign, went through several yards and hit the boy, before crashing into the house's front porch and finally coming to a stop. The house is roughly one block south of Seven Mile Road, less than a half-mile west of Van Dyke Avenue.
It was not clear whether the boy was driving the bike at the time of the crash.
The driver of the vehicle, reportedly a 24-year-old man, was arrested at the scene.
Police cleared the scene and were going to tell the boy's family. It was not clear whether the boy lived at the home where he was killed.
Witnesses said they believe at least one other car may have been involved in the incident. At least one home in the area had a surveillance camera.
