DETROIT (WWJ) - Police say a 31-year-old woman is fighting for her life after she was ejected during a suspected drunk driving crash on the Lodge Freeway.
The crash happened around 10:30 p.m. Thursday on southbound M-10 near Mt. Vernon. Michigan State Police say the woman lost control of her 2005 Kia Rio and crashed into the median.
Overnight Crash: On 3/7 at approximately 10:30 p.m. MSP 911 received calls of a single-vehicle traffic crash on SB M-10 near Mt. Vernon. Investigation revealed that the 31 year old driver of a 2005 Kia lost control and crashed into the median. pic.twitter.com/YWFg0Pfis5
— MSP Metro Detroit (@mspmetrodet) March 8, 2019The woman wasn't wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and was ejected onto the freeway. She was taken to a nearby hospital and last reported in critical condition.
Police say troopers observed an open bottle of alcohol inside the woman's vehicle. A blood draw was completed.
An investigation is ongoing.
