As investigators try to untangle the mess that was the Denby vs Almont state semi-final football game that devolved into pushing, shoving and an ongoing war of words, another violent brawl between high school rivals is making the rounds on social media.

In this one, Brother Rice and Catholic Central are reportedly in the melee that includes punches, kicks, and screaming expletives following a hockey game between the two Catholic schools.

While the incident looks brutal, school officials from Catholic Central say no one was seriously injured.

"I'm aware of an incident where two of our students were attacked ... We're really trying to protect our kids," a spokesman for Catholic Central said, adding the school would not discuss the incident.

He later sent WWJ a statement that said, "We are aware of the incident after a hockey game the first weekend in December in Plymouth during which two of our students were attacked by a group of individuals who do not attend our school. We are grateful to God that no one was seriously injured, and out of respect for the privacy of our students we do not have any further comment at this time."

A message left at Brother Rice was not immediately returned.

Plymouth Township detectives say there was a report filed on that date, and officers say they're working with both schools to identify suspects and witnesses.

What exactly happened is unclear, though the two are long-time private school rivals.

While neither side is commenting, this is one young woman's first-person take on the situation.

Catholic Central won its eighth Catholic League Division 1 hockey championship by shutting out Brother Rice 4-0 at the USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth. By winning, Catholic Central "avenged" a 5-2 loss to Brother Rice three weeks ago, per Detroit Catholic, and delivered their rival their first loss of the season.

One person on Twitter responding to the brawl footage noted, "So damn true, cc-rice rivalry is unmatched.... king of all rivalries."

Another wrote, "cc-rice. nothing like it. #RocksEatRice."

Anyone who witnessed the incident should call Plymouth Township police at 734-354-3274.
