(WWJ) The Oakland County Sheriff's Department is investigating the death of a woman whose decomposed body was found in a home.
Deputies and the Addison Township Fire Department were called to the home on Rochester Road east of Oxford to check on a man who asked a neighbor for help.
Inside the home, police found the man who had requested help alongside the decomposing body of a 61-year old woman. The man was her husband.
An autopsy has been scheduled to determine a cause of death.
The husband was taken to the hospital for treatment of insect infestation.
Investigators say the home has been condemed due to the conditions that included nine cats, a dog and a bird and various infestations.
The dogs and cats were taken away by Animal Control.
"The incident remains under investigation and Adult protective services were notified of living conditions," police said in a press release.
