TROY, Mich. (WWJ) -- It's a chance to "downward dog" with Troy's police cat.

The Troy Police Department is hosting a yoga event for a good cause, with its beloved police cat, Pawfficer Donut.

The police cat will be on-hand April 20 for the event, which will benefit HAVEN, an Oakland County shelter for victims of domestic violence.

The police department say they, along with Pawfficer Donut, "celebrate all the work that HAVEN does, but especially their new Farber Family Pet Center."

"Many survivors of domestic violence will not leave an abusive partner because they don’t want to leave their pet behind," the department said on the event's Facebook page.

The center provides a secure place for the pets of survivors living in the shelter.

The yoga event will be held at Explore Yoga in the 6000 block of Rochester Road from noon to 1 p.m. on April 20 and organizers are asking for a minimum $10 donation. All proceeds will benefit HAVEN.

Those who wish to attend the event can pre-register online to reserve a spot.

You can pre-register by clicking on the ticket link below and choose your donation level ($10, $15 or $20) to reserve your spot. Organizers say they are also accepting cash donations from those who wish to donate, but are unable to attend the class.
