DETROIT (WWJ) -- Plan to get moving early Friday morning, if you have to drive to work.
AccuWeather is calling for 1-3 inches of snow across Southeast Michigan, which is expected to impact the Friday morning commute.
WWJ AccuWeather Meteorologist Joe Lundberg said most of the Metro Detroit area will see snow pretty much all day Thursday, but the heaviest accumulation is expected overnight.
"Anything of little more meaning is probably going to wait until this afternoon," Lundberg said, speaking live on WWJ Thursday morning. "But even then, I think it's basically a little more than a dusting — just enough to cause some slick spots."
Lundberg said the biggest concern regarding slick and treacherous road conditions is Friday morning.
"There will be intermittent snow tonight; most of it's late tonight into tomorrow morning," he said. "And I think that's when we'll get the bulk of our one to three-inch accumulation from this next event."
While the most snow is expected on the early side Friday, forecaster say few snow squalls possible late Friday, along with gusty winds. Temperatures will then plummet Friday evening, with wind chills around 15 degrees likely Saturday morning.
AccuWeather says it'll be a frigid weekend overall, with a high of only 16 degrees Saturday, and 18 degree on Sunday in Metro Detroit.
Next week is looking a little bit "warmer" (if you can call it that), with a high of around 26 degrees with some sunshine on Monday, and up into the mid-30s for the rest of the week.
