ST. CLAIR COUNTY (WWJ) - A 24-year-old man was taken into custody for allegedly threatening law enforcement at two different agencies in St. Clair County before leading deputies on a brief chase early Thursday morning.
The St. Clair County Sheriff Office said the trouble began around 6:20 a.m. on Feb. 8th when the driver of a small blue Chevy pick up truck drove right into the employee gate at their facility at 1170 Michigan Road in Port Huron.
The crash caused extensive damage to the gate, although no law enforcement personnel were injured.
The driver fled the scene, but a short while later, the same truck appeared at the Port Huron Police Department, preforming the same maneuver at around 6:45 a.m.
Port Huron police began chasing the truck before it was spotted by a deputy on 24th Ave. in Fort Gratiot.
"The truck was pursued again, leading deputies around the county," the sheriff's office said. "Stop sticks were deployed on M-19, where the Chevy truck struck them. After attempting to continue to flee, the vehicle came to a stop at Burtch Road and Metcalf where the driver was taken into custody without incident."
The driver, identified as a 24-year-old male resident of Kimball Township, was taken for assessment at McLaren Port Huron where a blood draw was preformed. He was arrested on charges of threatening law enforcement.
The case remains under investigation at this time with no motive for the incident released by police. The sheriff's office added that the suspect no longer poses any threat to law enforcement or the public.
