ECORSE (WWJ) -- The search for a missing Wyandotte man ended tragically on Monday, when his body was found in Ecorse.
According to a post on the "Search for Tyler Bojanowski" Facebook page, the missing 25-year-old's body was pulled from the Detroit River in John Dingell Park.
The post reads:
"It is with heavy hearts that we share the body found today at Dingell Park is, in fact, Tyler. We are deeply upset that this information was released publicly before many of Tyler’s family had the chance to be notified. Please keep Tyler’s family in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time. We ask that everyone give them the space, respect, and time they need to grieve. Thank you to everyone who supported, shared, searched, and stood by Tyler and his family. Your efforts meant more than words can express."
Reports of a body being recovered from the water were circulating on social media at around 2:30 p.m. on March 30. Video shows first responders on the scene at the docks.
Bojanowski had been missing since February 5, when he was last seen walking away from his crashed car. His passport was later found at Dingell Park.
His mother told police he'd suffered a traumatic brain injury from a recent car crash.
Ecorse Police did confirm that a body was pulled from the water, but would not immediately make an official identification.
At this time, it's not clear exactly how he ended up in the water.
The Ecorse PD said: "This remains an active investigation, and we areworking closely with the Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office to determine thecircumstances surrounding this incident."
