DETROIT (WWJ) -- A woman is dead after she was shot in a home near a high school on Detroit's northwest side.
According to a Detroit Police spokesman, a woman was shot and killed by a man in the 17300 block of Washburn, in a neighborhood near Mumford High School.
Officers responded, and the man proceeded to barricade himself inside the home.
Police said that the shooter is now in custody, but did not elaborate on as to how the standoff ended.
There are reports that the nearby Mumford High was put on lockdown as a precaution, but school officials declined to comment at this time.
The names of the suspect and the victim have not been released.
