DETROIT (WWJ) -- An investigation is underway after a shooting outside a bar in the early morning hours Wednesday on Detroit’s northwest side left one person dead and another injured.

Detroit police say some time shortly before 2:30 a.m. there was some sort of altercation between a 42-year-old man and a 34-year-old man near Welcome 2 Wonderland, a bar and restaurant on 8 Mile Road, just east of the Southfield Freeway.

Police were not sure what may have led to the altercation.

Authorities say the 42-year-old man sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the body before running from the scene. He was found a short time later in the 20500 block of Lindsay and medics took him to the hospital for treatment.

He was listed in temporary serious condition.

The other man was privately taken to a hospital to be treated for a gunshot wound, but he was pronounced dead at the hospital. Police were unsure how many times the man had been shot.

Police found a high-powered rifle and a Glock near the scene, along with multiple shell casings in the alley between the restaurant and a liquor store next door.

Authorities tell WWJ’s Charlie Langton they are searching for more people who may have been involved in the incident.

Anyone who has any information about the shooting is asked to call the Detroit Police Department’s Homicide Unit at (313) 596-2260. Tips can also be submitted anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
