TROY (WWJ) -- A 14-year-old Troy boy is expected to face robbery charges after his mother noticed something was amiss.

Just after 5:30 p.m. last Tuesday, Troy Police responded to Capitol Wine and Liquor on Rochester Road on a report of a robbery that had just taken place.

An employee at the store told officers that a young male approached the counter and demanded she "empty the register."

The employee didn't see a gun, police said, but she noticed that the suspect was concealing his right hand in his hoodie pocket.

The suspect took the money, police said, and then fled the scene on foot.

No one was hurt.

Several hours later, police dispatch received a call from a concerned parent who said her son was acting strangely and "had a large sum of money he should not have," according to a police report.

Officers went to the home and spoke with the Troy woman's 14-year-old son who allegedly admitted to robbing the liquor store earlier in the evening.

The teen was was arrested and transported to Troy Police Lock-up for processing. His name will not be released, due to his juvenile status.
