15-year-old charged as an adult in series of armed robberies of marijuana delivery drivers in Macomb County

MOUNT CLEMENS (WWJ) -- A Clinton Township teen could spend up to life in prison if convicted as charged in a series of armed robberies.

According to the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office, the 15-year old juvenile was arraigned 41B Clinton Township District Court on Tuesday on multiple felony countess in connection with three robberies of marijuana dispensary delivery drivers in three separate incidents in October.

The prosecutor's office announced Wednesday that is has charged the teen as an adult with three counts of Armed Robbery (life felonies) and two counts of Felony Firearm (two year mandatory consecutive felonies).

Bond for the teen was set at $300,000 cash/surety by Magistrate Ryan Zemke, and a mental health evaluation was ordered.

If released on bond, the teen was ordered to have contact with the victims and must wear a steel-cuff GPS tether.

“The safety of our community remains our top priority. Unfortunately, this person has made bad decisions putting our community at risk and will have to face the consequences,” said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido, in a statement.

The defendant's name was not released.
