DETROIT (WWJ) A 15-year-old Detroit boy will be tried as an adult on First Degree Murder charges, after he allegedly opened fire on two women at a liquor store, killing one of them.
Wayne County Prosecutors said Isaiah Gordon killed 65-year-old Faith Williams and injured a 29-year-old woman on Friday, August 21, at approximately 11:10 p.m., at the store on East Warren Avenue near Alter Road.
According to police, officers arrived at the liquor store and found Williams suffering from a gunshot wound to the left arm that traveled to her neck. Medics pronounced her dead at the scene. They found the 29-year-old outside the store. She was hospitalized for treatment.
Prosecutors said Gordon fired a handgun at the victims, both of Detroit, then fired at two people in a passing vehicle before running away from the scene. Gordon did not know the victims.
Gordon's brother ultimately turned him in, according to prosecutors.
He's charged with one count of First-Degree Murder, three counts of Assault with Intent to Murder and four counts of Felony Firearm.
"His alleged actions against our completely innocent victims were unprovoked and unimaginable," Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said. "He must be held accountable for his actions in spite of his personal circumstances."
His arraignment took place at the 36th District Court on Saturday, August 29. The judge remanded him to a juvenile detention facility. He's due back in court for a Probable Cause Conference on September 8, and a Preliminary Exam on September 15.
