Three Detroit men involved in a deadly, drive-by shooting of a boy have been sentenced to lengthy prison terms, according to the Wayne County Prosecutor's office.
Demontrel Wilson, 30, Deonate Cherry, 28, and Terrance Blue, 28, were charged in connection with the death of Rylee Love, 6, who was shot in the head while in his bedroom at a home in the 17400 block of Anglin Street on July 27, 2025.
Investigators say the suspects fired several shots from a car into a group of people standing near the intersection of Anglin Street and Stender Avenue. One of the stray bullets hit Love, who was playing inside a house.
The suspects were arrested nearly a month later.
Wayne County Circuit Court Judge Donald Knapp sentenced Blue to life in prison without parole after a jury convicted him of first-degree murder and other charges.
Wilson, who was found guilty of second degree murder in August, was sentenced to 39-70 years behind bars.
Cherry pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and was sentenced, according to his agreement, to 20-40 years in jail.
“Rylee Love was the ultimate innocent victim. The alleged actions of these defendants directly caused his senseless death," said Prosecutor Kym Worthy in a statement. "I have said many times that bullets have no eyes or sense of direction. The bullets in this case struck a child playing in his house and he will not see another day."
