FORK TOWNSHIP (WWJ) -- A teenage suspect is in custody for the murder of a man who shot and bludgeoned to death in his Mid Michigan home this week.
The Mecosta County Sheriff's Office on Friday announced the arrest of a 16-year-old boy, in connection with the slaying of a 41-year-old man in the 5000 block of Truman Road in Fork Township.
According to the sheriff's office, Richard Simko was killed in his home early Wednesday morning.
Sheriff's officials said the teen arrested in this case is a ward of Osceola County Probate Court at the time of the murder, and that he'd spent the last year out-of-state in a custody program for crimes he committed as a juvenile in Osceola County in 2022-23.
Officials did not release the name of the suspect, due to his juvenile status at this time.
On Friday, the teen remained in custody on a murder warrant, awaiting an arraignment in court.
There is no information at this time as to the relationship between the suspect and the victim, or about a motive in this case.
The sheriff's office said further details will be released at a later date.
