17-year-old Ohio boy killed when he crashed into two parked vehicles in Hillsdale County, one teen injured

CAMDEN, MICH. (WWJ) A 17-year-old Ohio boy died in a single-vehicle crash in Hillsdale County.

In a statement on X; Michigan State Police First District said troopers were dispatched to N. Main Street in the village of Camden, about 50 miles southwest of Jackson, on Sunday (8/25) around 1:30 a.m.

Investigation revealed a 17-year-old boy from Edgerton, Ohio (a village about 40 miles northeast of Fort Wayne, Indiana) was driving a pickup, with a 16-year-old boy as a passenger. The 17-year-old driver “lost control of his vehicle”, ran off the road and hit two parked vehicles in a driveway, State Police said.

Alcohol and speed are believed to be factors, police said.

First responders rushed the driver to Hillsdale Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The passenger was life-flighted to Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor with severe but non-life-threatening injuries.
