ANN ARBOR TWP (WWJ) A crash in Washtenaw County left a 17-year-old Ypsilanti boy in critical condition.

Michigan State Police (MSP) said the crash happened on Sunday, May 25, around 3:02 a.m. in the area of northbound US-23 near Geddes in Ann Arbor Township.

When MSP Brighton Post troopers arrived, they found the driver ejected from his vehicle. His passenger, a 16-year-old girl, was trapped inside the car.

He was rushed to Trinity Hospital in Ann Arbor where he's listed in critical condition. She is hospitalized in stable condition.

Northbound US-23 was closed from 3 a.m. to 6 a.m.

Investigators said alcohol or drugs "appear have played a factor." However, the investigation remains ongoing.
