DETROIT (WWJ) – Detroit police officials say Monday night's annual fireworks display went off without any major incidents downtown.
The department made it a "top priority" to maintain a "safe and family friendly environment" for the 65th annual event, and officials announced Wednesday there were zero arrests made Monday night.
Previous years had seen shooting incidents and arrests for carrying weapons, but officials said the only incidents this year were curfew violations.
Authorities were strictly enforcing a curfew on fireworks night for people under 18, which was in effect from 8 p.m. Monday until 6 a.m. Tuesday.
Police issued 18 curfew violation tickets and seven parental responsibility tickets were issued.
Officials thanked multiple law enforcement agencies, community groups and media for helping the event go off without a hitch.
