CEDAR COUNTY, Mo. (WWJ) - Authorities in Missouri say a young woman from Michigan drowned in a local lake this week after her kayak reportedly capsized in rough waters.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol said in an update on Thursday (March 20), via Ozarks First that they identified the deceased as 18-year-old Melodie Roberts of Mayville, Michigan.
Sgt. Mike McClure of the MSHP said a group of three people -- including Roberts and two men -- were reported missing at Stockton Lake just after noon on March 19.
Roberts and her kayak were discovered in the water at Crabtree Cove around 12:30 p.m. on March 20.
As of Thursday morning, the two men had not been loacted but search efforts continued throughout the day.
No other details were provided.
