DETROIT (WWJ) -- A young Detroit man faces possible life in prison after it's alleged he murdered another young Detroit man during a robbery.

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy on Monday announced the case against 19-year-old Mikeal Keyonne Franklin, in the fatal shooting of 21-year-old Keimonte Johnson.

According to investigators, just before 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 16, Franklin shot Johnson in a car along Michigan Ave., east of Liveronois, before robbing him of his money and fleeing the scene.

Detroit Police responded to find Johnson in the front passenger seat, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken by EMS to a local hospital where he died.

Franklin was arrested following a Detroit Police investigation.

He is charged with Premeditated First-Degree Murder, Felony Murder, Armed Robbery, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Felonious Assault, and four counts of Felony Firearm.

At this point, police are not saying if the two young men knew each other, or what led up to the shooting. Prosecutor said more information will be released during Franklin's preliminary exam, which is set for April 6.

Franklin was remanded to jail without bond after his arraignment in 36th District Court on Saturday.

His next court appearance is a probable cause conference set for March 30.
