2 people arrested in connection with shooting of teen during tree lighting event at the Mall at Partridge Creek

CLINTON TWP. (WWJ) -- Two people are now in custody connection with a shooting at a Christmas Tree lighting event last year in Macomb County.

The Clinton Township Police Department said Friday that it can confirm the successful apprehension of two suspects in the shooting at the tree lighting at the Mall at Partridge Creek. located between Garfield and Romeo Plank roads.

The suspects have been on the run since the evening of Nov. 23, 2025, when police responded to calls about gunfire outside the outside the MJR theater at the mall.

A 17-year-old victim found suffering from a gunshot wound and was taken to a hospital for treatment, but the shooter had already fled the area.

Police have said this was not believed to have been a targeted attack on the tree lighting event, but an "isolated incident" between two groups of people.

In a statement, police thanked the U.S. Marshals Service, the FBI Violent Crime Task Force, and the Roseville Police Department for their "critical roles" in this operation.

"We acknowledge this was a complex, lengthy investigation. Limited information was intentionally provided during the process to ensure its success. We now stand firm: those responsible have been caught," police said, adding: "Finally, we commend the dedication of our own Criminal Investigations Division and Special Investigations Unit, whose relentless commitment to protecting this community remains unwavering."

The suspects' names and details of there arrests were not immediately released.

More information is expected to be provided after their arraignments on the charges.
