Warren (WWJ) -- Two former Warren police officers are expected in court this week to face charges related to a traffic stop that ended with a truck driver being tasered.
The Macomb County Prosecutor's Office filed charges against officers Dammeon Player and Carlos Taylor last August, but the case just came to light this week.
Player, 50, has been charged with felonious assault and willful failure to uphold the law, while Taylor, 28, is charged with assault and battery and willful failure to uphold the law.
Investigators say the officers used unnecessary force while arresting a truck driver during a traffic stop in Centerline in July of 2023. According to WJBK, the incident was captured on body camera video.
As part of the case, the city of Warren approved a $400,000 settlement with the driver involved.
