PORT HURON (WWJ) - Two people, including a woman in her 90s, were seriously injured after a Port Huron home went up in flames late Thursday evening.
As reported by WPHM, the Port Huron Fire Department along with several other agencies from Marysville and Fort Gratiot responded to the home on Varney Street, near the corner of 11th in the city, just before midnight after receiving reports of a house fire.
Two people were inside the home when the fire began with a third resident also believed to have been inside, WPHM reported.
Fire crews managed to rescue two residents, one of which was reported to be a 91-year-old woman. It was reported that medical personnel at the scene had to preform CPR on one or both of the victims before they were rushed to a local hospital in critical condition.
Other unconfirmed reports state the victims were then flown to the Detroit Medical Center's Burn Center.
Firefighters went back into the burning home several times to try and located the third person, but later determined they were not in the home when the fire started.
At this time, it is unclear what caused the fire. Officials shut down 11th and 12th Streets for several hours as they processed the scene for evidence.
The incident remains under investigation.
