SHELBY TWP. (WWJ) -- Two more suspects in the shooting of Macomb County businessman Eddie Jawad have been formally arraigned on criminal charges.

Rachard Huffman, 39, of Sterling Heights, is charged with conspiracy to commit first degree murder along with embezzlement and conspiracy to commit embezzlement, according the a release by the Macomb County Sheriff's Office.

Huffman's wife, 44-year-old Dawn Huffman of Sterling Heights, wasn't charged directly in the shooting, but is facing charges of embezzlement and conspiracy to commit embezzlement in connection with the case.

Prosecutors say the Huffmans are a married couple, and that Dawn Huffman worked for Jawad for more than two decades.

At an arraignment Monday in 41A District Court, Rachard Huffman was given a $1 million cash/surety bond, no 10%; with a GPS tether required upon release. Dawn Huffman's bond was a bit slower, set at $500,000 cash/surety, no 10%, also with a tether.

In asking for the high bonds, prosecutors noted that Dawn Huffman has relatives out-of-state, making the couple a flight risk.

This comes after 32-year-old Jasan Martin of Eastpointe— the alleged gunman — was initially charged in the case last week.

At Martin’s Probable Cause Conference Monday, Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Carrie Seward announced an additional charge of conspiracy to commit first-degree premeditated Murder, a life offense without the possibility of parole.

Martin, who was already facing six other felony charges, remains held in the the Macomb County Jail on a $1 million bond.

The morning of Oct. 14, authorities said an armed suspect dressed in black waited for Jawad outside his home on 24 Mile Road, in the area of Foss and North Ave., hiding between two parked cars for about 45 minutes.

When Jawad came out to leave for work, the gunman started shooting. Jawad shot back, and the suspect fled the scene in black SUV. The whole thing was caught on video.

Jawad was taken to a hospital, where he was treated for a non-life-threatening injury.

Authorities have not released any details about the motive in this case.
