(WWJ) Arrests have been made in the cold case murder of a metro Detroit woman known locally for her singing.

Egypt Covington was found fatally shot inside her home on Hull Road in Van Buren Township — just a few days before her 28th birthday.

Covington, who worked an account manager a craft beer distributor, was last seen on June 22, 2017, after leaving a yoga class.

The following day, her boyfriend got worried when she didn't answer her calls, and he went to her house to find her dead.

Her family has said there was no sign of a forced entry, and they believed Covington knew her killer.

In making the announcement on Thursday about two arrests, both Michigan State Police and Van Buren Township police say they will not be releasing any more information about the two people in custody at this time.

According to family and friends, Covington was well-known in metro Detroit for her beautiful singing voice and kind heart.

“Untimely death is always hard, but losing someone like Egypt is a true loss for the world. It shakes an entire community,” read a crowd-funding page for Covington's memorial. “Egypt was a bright, beautiful, amazing individual who touched every person she encountered. She will forever be missed.”

A hefty cash reward of $25,000 was offered earlier this year for information that would bring her killer to justice.
