MELVINDALE (WWJ) -- Police are searching two suspects on the run, after a deadly shooting Downriver Thursday night.
According to Melvindale Police, the shooting happened around 9:30 p.m. the area of Seaway and Outer Drive in Melvindale, underneath I-75.
Police Chief Robert Kennaley said a pair of suspects jumped out of a car, firing shots into another vehicle, and killing a 20-year-old man from Detroit.
Friday afternoon, the chief told WWJ Newsradio 950's Luke Sloan that the two shooters remained on the loose.
He said Southgate, Detroit, Lincoln Park and Dearborn Police, as well as the Michigan State Police K9 Team have all been helping in the search.
"Right now it's obviously an ongoing investigation," Kennaley said. "So, we do have some leads with a couple witnesses that were on scene. But we are asking for other witnesses in the area of they could contact the Melvindale Police Department."
At this time, Kennaley said there's no word on a motive behind the shooting.
The name of the young man who died was not immediately released.
