DETROIT (WWJ) -- Two young men from the suburbs are facing criminal charges, after it's alleged they fled from police who were investigating drag racing in Detroit.

On Monday, April 7, Detroit Police said officers from the Commercial Auto Theft Section were monitoring drifting and drag racing when they spotted a Orange Toyota Tacoma "spectating at numerous spots."

Police said the driver, later identified as 20-year-old Ishmel Slone of Westland, was behind the wheel of the pickup truck and fled from officers when they attempted a traffic stop.

The pair was eventually stopped, and police found firearms in the vehicle.

The Detroit Police Department on Friday shared photos of the weapons and the vehicle seized by police.

The Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office has charged Slone with Felony Fleeing/Eluding 4th Degree. As part of his bond conditions, he is not allowed to drive.

Slone's passenger, 20-year-old Keshawn Davis of Westland, is charged with Carrying a Concealed Weapon.

Information about future court dates for the pair was not immediately released.
