WARREN (WWJ) An overnight shooting killed a young man in Warren.

In a press release; Warren Police said they were dispatched to a home on Paige Street, in the area of 9 Mile and Lorraine, for a shooting. Officers and the Warren Fire Department crews arrived at the home to find a 23-year-old man with gunshot wounds in the backyard. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers conducted several interviews at the house and learned the shooting may have resulted from an earlier domestic violence incident involving the victim, his ex-girlfriend, and possibly other family members of the ex-girlfriend; according to police.

Police gathered information at the scene that led them to a home on Jewett, near Stephens and Van Dyke, less than a quarter of a mile away from the house on Paige. Officers found multiple unknown people and young children in the home. The Special Response Team was activated "to maximize safety" while they attempted to make contact with the people inside, police said.

Police found two women inside the home and transported them to the Warren Police Department for questioning. Evidence suggested a relative of one of the two women was involved in the shooting. A Special Response Team responded to a home about five miles away— on Thomas, in the area of 11 Mile and Ryan. They took the 32-year-old man into custody "without incident." Officers also took in another woman at the house for follow-up questioning.

"There is no active threat to the community at this time as this incident involved persons all known to each other." Police said in the press release. "All persons believed to be involved were taken into custody within 8 hours of this incident first being reported."

Warren Police call the investigation "open and active." Investigators will present their findings to the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office. Two adult suspects remain in custody.

The victim's name was not released.
