
SOUTHGATE (WWJ) Southgate Police are investigating the drowning of a toddler at a pool party.
Southgate Police said they were called to an apartment complex on Quarry, near Fort and Pennsylvania, on Friday, June 20, around 8:15 p.m. for a child not breathing.
According to police, officers arrived to the outdoor pool area and found a 2-year-old girl who was not breathing. Adults on scene were giving her CPR. Officers and Emergency Medical Services also attempted life-saving measures.
Their investigation revealed she fell in during the party. Authorities are uncertain how long she remained underwater. “Multiple” kids and adults were at the pool area at the time of her drowning, police said.
She was rushed to Wyandotte Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The investigation remains ongoing.
