A large area is also without power around the Wayne State University campus in Midtown, as well as several sections of Romulus and Dearborn.

Class has been canceled today at Edsel Ford High School, Whitmore-Bolles Elementary School, and Woodworth Middle School in Dearborn due to outages. The Dearborn Early Learning center is also closed.

Other school closures include Stevenson High School in Sterling Heights, Hope of Detroit Academy in Detroit, and the Oakland Tech Northwest campus in Clarkston.

As of Wednesday morning, DTE says that it has 350 crews out in the field working to restore power.

Consumers Energy, meanwhile, is reporting that nearly 4,000 of its customers statewide are also without power.
