WATERFORD (WWJ) A motorcycle crash in Waterford killed a 20-year-old Commerce Township man.

Waterford Police said the crash happened on Friday, September 11 at approximately 8:40 a.m. in the area of Highland Road and Forest Avenue, near Crescent Lake Road.




According to authorities, a white Ford work van pulled out of a private driveway and struck the motorcycle. A bystander attempted CPR and called 911.

Officers, along with Waterford Regional Fire Department, arrived on scene to continue life-saving measures. They rushed the motorcyclist to McLaren Oakland Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.

Police said witnesses reported seeing the motorcycle traveling at "at an extremely high rate of speed" on eastbound M-59.

A 41-year-old Ortonville man with "no signs of impairment" was driving the work van, according to police.

Authorities did not release the victim's name.

Investigators shut down the area for several hours to process the scene.
