LANSING (WWJ) -- Thousands of Michigan residents will soon be able to order free COVID tests directly to their front door.
The State Health Department has partnered with the Rockefeller Foundation to ship 250,000 at-home COVID testing kits to 50,000 households of vulnerable Michiganders.

Residents in Berrien, Genesee, Kent, Macomb, Muskegon, Oakland, Saginaw and Wayne counties can order one test kit per household after entering their zip code into the Project Act website to see if they are eligible.
Each kit contains five tests and should arrive in Amazon packaging within one to two weeks of ordering.
Those without Internet access can contact the COVID-19 hotline at 888-535-6136, or contact 211 for assistance ordering tests.
“Testing is critical to helping Michiganders protect themselves and their loved ones as we face the Omicron variant of COVID-19,” said Gov. Gretchen Whitmer. “I am grateful to the Rockefeller Foundation and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services for teaming up to deliver 250,000 tests to families in counties across the state.”
Earlier this month, 300,000 tests were also made available to schools and other group settings across the state.
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDDHS) anticipates more tests will be available in the future.
Meanwhile, Michiganders can locate testing sites near them through the search tool on the MDDHS website.
