(WWJ) Family and friends of a woman killed in a hit-and-run crash in Macomb County is asking the public for help.

St. Clair Shores Police has been investigating the crash that happened on Wednesday, Feb.25, shortly before 1:15 a.m. on westbound I-94 between 8 and 9 Mile.

Officers were called to the scene on reports of a pedestrian who was walking in a lane of traffic.

When they arrived on the scene, they found 25-year-old Shyann Washington dead in the right lane of the freeway, near the Shady Lane pedestrian bridge.

According to Crime Stoppers of Michigan, the driver who hit Washington fled the scene, and police have not been able to find or identify the person.

A news conference was planned for Friday, as Washington's loved ones are hoping someone who saw something, or who knows something, will come forward with information to help solve this case.

There's a $2,500 reward being offered for the tip that leads police to the driver responsible.

Anyone who saw anything suspicious that day, or who knows someone who did, is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP (800-773-2587).

As always, those who call the tip line will stay 100% anonymous, and will not be required to give your name, speak to police or to testify in court. The public can also submit anonymous tips online at this link.

Rewards are paid upon an arrest in a case. They do not wait for a conviction.
