HURON TWP. (WWJ) — Three people, including two students, have been taken to the hospital after a crash involving a school bus Tuesday in Wayne County.

Police and fire crews responded to the scene of the crash on Waltz Road near Felt in Huron Township — just south of Romulus — around 3 p.m. Tuesday.

Everette Robbins, Director of the Huron Twp. Department of Public Safety, told WWJ's Luke Sloan alcohol, speed and distracted driving were not factors in the crash. The driver told police he "missed the brake" as he was trying to stop and he rear-ended the bus.

Two students and the driver of the car were all taken to the hospital with what are said to be non-life-threatening injuries. A third student also sustained minor injuries but was not taken to the hospital.

All the students on the bus were in middle school or high school, according to Robbins.

Authorities said parents of the students on the bus were notified of the crash. Students who remained on the bus after the incident were taken to their normal drop-off spots.

Waltz Road remained closed in the area for nearly an hour, but it has since reopened.

No other details have been released.
