TYRONE TWP. (WWJ) — A single-vehicle crash in Northern Livingston County on Sunday morning, which left US-23 closed for several hours, claimed the lives of three people, including a teenager, and left two others hospitalized.

The crash happened around 8:30 a.m. Sunday along southbound US-23 near Fausett Road in Tyrone Township, about 20 miles north of Brighton, according to Michigan State Police.

MSP officials say a 44-year-old man was driving south on US-23 when he lost control of his car, which overturned as it left the road.

Responding troopers found a 44-year-old woman, a 18-year-old man and a 16-year-old girl dead at the scene. The driver was taken to the University of Michigan Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition Sunday night.

A 22-year-old man was also found at the scene. He was listed in critical condition Sunday night.

MSP officials say everyone in the family was related, but did not specify whether the older adults were the younger victims’ parents.

Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash, according to MSP. No further details surrounding the crash, including what may have caused the driver to lose control, have been released.

Troopers from the MSP Brighton Post are continuing to investigate. Anyone who knows something more about the crash is asked to call Trooper Joshua Pohl at (810) 227-1051.

The freeway was for about four hours as authorities investigated at the scene.
