VAN BUREN TWP. (WWJ) -- Police in western Wayne County are investigating two separate car crashes that killed three people, including a husband and wife.
The first crash happened early Sunday morning, along Michigan Ave., west of Denton Rd.
Van Buren Township police said a husband and wife, both 49 years old, were in the turnaround when the car they were in was hit by a Ford Focus, at around 4 a.m. Both of them died.
A 23-year-old Canton resident was driving the Ford Focus, police said. It's unclear if that person was injured.
As the investigation continues, police said several factors, including possible drunk driving, played a part in the crash. When the crash report is finalized it will be sent to the Wayne County Prosecutor's office to determine if charges will be filed.
Separately, early Monday morning, Van Buren Township police said a 44-year- old Canton man died in a single-car rollover crash. This happed at around 12:15 a.m., along Michigan Ave. near Denton — not in the same spot as the other crash, but in the sane area.
Police said the Canton man was the only person in the car.
The investigation into that crash is also ongoing.
