DETROIT (WWJ) - Three suspects wanted in the shooting of a Detroit police officer on the city's east side are now in custody.

Police released video and photos of the suspects last Wednesday, August 16 and announced this Tuesday the three have been arrested.

Information about the suspects has not been released, pending their arraignment.

"We have arrested the suspects in connection to the shooting of a Detroit Police Officer, on August 11, 2023, in the area of Whitehill and Morang," DPD said in a release.

"Thank you to the community and our hard-working officers who worked together to locate and arrest these suspects."

The DPD officer was shot in the leg when responding to a ShotSpotter report in the area of Morang and Whitehill in the early morning hours of Friday, August 11. The unidentified suspects ran outside an old apartment building that is suspected to house a Marijuana grow operation.

As the officers approached the location, one suspect fired shots.
