DETROIT (WWJ) -- The Detroit Police Department has released photos and video footage of three young men after one of them opened fire at officers last Friday, on the city's east side.
One officer was shot but survived, the DPD said Wednesday, sharing more information about the August 11 shooting.
According to police, officers were responding to a ShotSpotter run at Whitehill and Morang just after 12 a.m.
"Upon arrival they were approached by a couple of citizens that identified an empty apartment building that was occupied by three people who shouldn't have been inside," said Detroit Police Chief James White.
As the officers approached the location, one suspect fired shots.
One officers was struck by a bullet in the left calf and went down, while two other officers returned fire.
The wounded officer was rushed to a hospital, and the suspects fled the area on foot.
Suspect number one is described as a male in his late teens to early 20s, 5’7-5’9 tall with a slim build and dark hair, wearing orange sweatshirt with writing on the front, and dark colored pants.

Suspect number two is also a male in his late teens to early 20s, 5’7-5’9 tall, with a slim build, dark hair. He was wearing a black Adidas’ jacket, and dark-colored pants.

Suspect three — the alleged shooter — is a male in his late teens to early 20s, 5’7-5’9 tall with a slim build and dark hair. He was wearing dark clothing and was armed with a handgun, police said.

All three suspects remained at large on Wedneday.

A $1,000 reward is available for the tip that leads to an arrest in this case.
