30-year-old man killed while crossing Gratiot on Detroit's east side

DETROIT (WWJ) - A 30-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed when crossing Gratiot Avenue early Monday morning.

Detroit Police said the man was walking across Gratiot just south of 7 Mile when he was hit by a black Jeep around 6 a.m.

The female driver of the Jeep, who allegedly hit the man, is cooperating with police and was released.

Gratiot was closed in both directions between McNichols and 7 Mile. Both lanes of the street were blocked off near Hickory.

It's not yet known if any charges will be filed as the investigation continues by Detroit police.
