PONTIAC (WWJ) -- A Pontiac woman died in a house fire over the weekend, along with a dog, according to investigators.
The Oakland County Sheriff's Office, along with Waterford firefighters, responded just after 1 p.m. Sunday to the house in the 600 block of Raskob, near Joslyn Ave., after an acquaintance called the resident and became concerned when she didn't respond.
When deputies arrived, 37-year-old woman Lakeisha Arnae Moton was found unresponsive in the hallway, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
A dog that was in a kennel in the home also died in the fire, according to the sheriff's office.
An investigation found that the fire likely started in the kitchen, officials said, and deputies and paramedics found the interior of the home covered with a fresh layer of soot.
An autopsy performed Monday by the Oakland County Medical Examiner's Office determined that smoke inhalation was the cause of death, and the manner of death was accidental the OCSO said.
No further details about what may have caused the fire were released.
