LIVONIA (WWJ) -- Four people were shot to death Tuesday evening at a home in Livonia, and the suspect is in custody.

Officers were called to a home at 19332 Rensellor Road, near Inkster and Seven Mile Rd., just after 5:30 p.m. on a report of shots fired.
Arriving officers saw a man walk out of the home with his hands raised and indicating he had shot family members, according to a statement from Livonia police. The person was taken into custody.

"About ten to 15 shots fired at one period, and then a minute later a single shot was fired," Josh Hood told WWJ as he watched police activity from behind yellow crime scene tape. Hood lives in the neighborhood. "I've never seen anything like this ever over here," Hood said. "It's crazy to think about."

Officers found two adults in a main bedroom suffering from gunshot wounds. Two other adults were found in the backyard. The victims were two women and two men. Three of the victims were family members of the suspect. The fourth victim was in a relationship with one of the deceased family members, according to police.

Police say the gun involved was recovered at the scene.

"You always hear about it in other neighborhoods and never think it will happen to you until it's at the end of your block, it's an uneasy feeling for sure," Dean Schultz told WWJ's Darrylin Horne. "Hopefully it's not a reoccurring thing."

Police say there is no threat to the public. They call it a tragic event and say their "thoughts are with the families and loved ones affected by this incident."

No names have been released, and police are not talking about a motive at this time.

Livonia detectives will send their report to the Wayne County Prosecutor's office which will determine what charges will be filed.
