
PONTIAC (WWJ) -- A fourth young suspect wanted in connection with Tuesday night’s deadly shooting in Pontiac is now in custody, according to authorities.
According to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office, an 18-year old man was killed and teen was critically wounded following the incident near West South Blvd. and Highland Ave.
At around 7:50 p.m. on July 8, deputies responded to the scene on a call about multiple people shot.
When the arrived they found the 18-year-old victim unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the chest. Deputies began life saving measures, and he was rushed to a hospital where he died of his injuries.
The 19-year old victim, who was taken to the hospital by a local resident, is expected to survive, the sheriff's office said.
Three people have been arrested in connection with the shooting.
The first two were juveniles, ages 13 and 15. They were set to appear in Juvenile Court on gun charges.
The third suspect, a 17-year-old boy from Pontiac, was arrested about 4 p.m. in Pontiac by D-FAT, which includes U.S. Marshals, a member of the Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Apprehension Team and the Directed Patrol Unit.
Wednesday evening, the fourth suspect — a 16-year-old Pontiac boy — turned himself into the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Pontiac, accompanied by his mother.
“This senseless and tragic violence must stop, and people involved must be held accountable,” Sheriff Mike Bouchard said, in a statement.
Charges in the case are pending. Detectives are expected to present the case to prosecutors either Thursday or Friday, the sheriff's office said.
No motive for the shooting has been released.
