DETROIT (WWJ) Over 400 pounds of illegal fireworks have been seized from a home in Detroit on the city's east side.
The Michigan State Fire Marshal and Detroit Police Department received a complaint of illegal firework sales at a house on Wexford (20,000 block) near Ryan and Outer Drive last Sunday.
When they arrived, they saw a lot of apparent consumer fireworks for sale in the front yard. Multiple signs reading "fireworks" advertised the sale.
Fire Marshals seized the hundreds of pounds of fireworks. They determined citations would be issued and the inventory was allowed to be seized due to the violation of Michigan's Fireworks Safety Acts.
No other information has been released about how the sellers obtained 400 pounds of illegal fireworks or why they were selling them.
If you have any information on illegal firework sales, please call the Michigan State Fire Marshal's Tip Line at (517) 388-6715.
