DETROIT (WWJ) — A 44-year-old man has died after a fire broke out at a home on Detroit's west side Thursday afternoon.
The fire happened in the area of Patton and Glenco, near 7 Mile and Evergreen shortly before 5 p.m.
WWJ Newsradio 950's Tim Pamplin reported from the scene when firefighters arrived to the home, the man's mother was outside and told them he was in the basement.
By the time firefighters got to the basement, there was nothing they could do for the man, as he was pronounced dead at the scene, Pamplin reported.
Authorities did not say whether anyone else was injured in the fire.
Arson investigators were called to the scene, though Pamplin reported fire officials said there were no indications of arson.
