1. Royal Oak Tequila Fest 2023
Raise a glass to Royal Oak Tequila Fest! Sample some of the finest brands and varieties of premium and ultra-premium tequilas, as well as tequila liqueurs, crèmes, infusions, mezcals and flavored tequilas. The Mexican spirits can be sampled straight, or in hand-crafted margaritas and cocktails. Tantalizing tacos and other Mexican favorites from some of Metro Detroit’s best taco trucks will also be available for purchase.

The annual Koi Festival returns to Belle Isle this weekend! This family-friendly event brings the community together to celebrate the Japanese heritage of the Aquarium’s famed Koi collection. The Koi Festival offers fun for all ages with traditional games, martial arts demonstrations, music, and crafts inspired by Japanese traditions along with a selection of Japanese-inspired cuisine.

3. Shen Yun
Experience a lost culture through the incredible art of classical Chinese dance, and see legends come to life with Shen Yun Performing Arts! The international show pushes the boundaries of the performing arts, with a unique blend of stunning costuming, high-tech backdrops, and an orchestra like no other. Be prepared for a theatrical experience that will take your breath away!

4. 8th Annual Detroit International Festival of Animation
The 8th Annual Detroit International Festival of Animation (DIFA) debuts this weekend at the historic Senate Theater in Detroit. This celebration of animation will showcase a diverse range of works from local and international animators. With approximately 90 minutes of animated shorts on display, DIFA will feature a wide range of styles, from experimental and quirky to more sophisticated mini-features.

5. Cinco de Mayo in Southwest Detroit
Celebrate Cinco de Mayo this weekend in Southwest Detroit! The annual event returns for its 58th year with the theme "Music of Our Heritage." On Friday and Saturday, the festival will feature local vendors, food trucks, musicians, mariachis, family activities and more. Then, on Sunday, the Cinco de Mayo parade that steps off at Patton Park, heading down Vernor Highway and concluding in Clark Park.
