(WWJ) There's a chill in the air, but we don't mind! There's lots going on in the Metro Detroit area, both outdoors and in.

Here are some of our top picks for events this weekend, brought to you by WWJ's Don't Miss List with Pat Vitale.

1. Fall Fest
Saturday Nov. 8, 1-5 PM
Williams Recreation Center and Park

Detroit Park and Recreation hosts the ultimate free fall festival with corn maze, carnival games, mechanical bull, rock climbing wall, a petting zoo, pony rides, smore station, inflatables, food trucks and more. Admission is FREE!

2. Hockeytown Centennial Fanfest
Thursday-Sunday, Nov. 6-9
Motor City Casino

As part of the celebration of their 100th season, the Red Wings are hosting a four-day extravaganza at Detroit's MotorCity Casino Hotel — featuring several franchise icons. Enjoy interactive exhibits, autograph sessions, watch parties for the Red Wings' home games, and family-friendly activities like skills challenges and photo ops with a replica Stanley Cup! 3. Macomb Reads Carnival
Saturday, Nov. 8, 10AM-2PM
Macomb Intermediate School District, Clinton Township,

Macomb Intermediate School District, in partnership with the 21 Macomb County School Districts, to increase literacy awareness within the community through celebration and fun family activities. FREE children's books, FREE cider and donuts, face painting, storytime, and more! Admission is FREE for for preK-elementary school children and their families, but registration is recommended HERE.

3. Original Sewing and Quilt Expo
Thursday-Saturday, Nov. 6-9
Suburban Collection Showplace

Calling all sewing and quilting enthusiasts, for this three-day event featuring classes, workshops, and shopping from vendors. Attendees can also enjoy stage shows, runway fashion shows, quilt exhibits, and how-to demonstrations. Shop supplies and equipment from industry vendors and check out stage presentations, trunk shows, runway fashion shows, and demos.

5. Volunteer Stewardship Workday
Saturday, Nov. 8, 10AM-12:30PM
Bald Mountain Recreation Area, Oakland County

Get outside, pitch in, and do your part to make our Michigan parks thrive! Volunteers are needed to help restore natural areas by removing invasive plants. This weekend, the DNR is cutting glossy buckthorn other invasive shrubs that threaten the unique ecosystem at Bald Mountain Recreation Area. [Meet at the East Graham Boat Launch parking lot on the north side of Predmore Road in the park's North Unit. Learn more.
