The Detroit Tigers will welcome fans back to Comerica Park for Tigers Opening Day as they host the Oakland Athletics this Friday, April 5! Check out pre-game events, tailgates and a variety of other ways to celebrate the start of baseball season in The District Detroit. If you can't make it to Opening Day, the fun will continue all weekend at Comerica Park as the Tigers take on the Athletics on Saturday, April 6 at 1:10 p.m. and Sunday, April 7 at 1:40 p.m. Go Tigers!

2. Cars & Coffee at the M1 Concourse
Engines are revving at M1 Concourse for its inaugural event of the 2024 season, Cars & Coffee, set for Saturday, April 6 from 8 a.m. - 11 a.m. As the state’s largest Cars & Coffee event, this first installment of the series will spotlight Ford, Lincoln and Mercury brand vehicles from past to present. This community event is kid-friendly and free, so grab the whole family and enjoy coffee and some epic cars this Saturday in Pontiac!
Saturday, April 6 from 8 a.m. - 11 a.m. at M1 Concourse in Pontiac
Royal Oak Bourbon Fest is an indoor bourbon festival hosted at Royal Oak Farmers Market. This festival will feature 200+ whiskeys and bourbons, store picks, classic cocktails and high-end bottle section. Most of the list is bourbon, but there will be a few non-bourbon options such as beer, wine & non-alcoholic options. In addition to the great beverage selection, there will be food trucks, live music, a variety of vendors and more!
Saturday, April 6 at 5 p.m. at the Royal Oak Farmers Market in Downtown Royal Oak
Attention all witches and wizards! You are hereby invited to dine in the elegant Canterbury Castle with some very magical guests at the HP Dinner in the Castle! Attendees will be able to enjoy a meal while interacting with their favorite characters from the beloved Wizarding World. There will be a buffet-style dinner, cash bar, as well as both alcoholic and nonalcoholic Butterbeer (for purchase) and some magical live entertainment.

5. The Novi Home & Garden Show
Spring is in the air at The Novi Home & Garden Show this weekend at Suburban Collection Showplace! Discover new home improvement products and services, view decorating and landscaping exhibits, and talk to experienced local businesses available for consulting or hire. Exhibitors will include deck and patio professionals, homebuilders, kitchen and bathroom remodelers and more. Plus, gain valuable knowledge from local gardening experts on the Plant Michigan Green Gardening Stage.

Looking for something special to do during the Total Eclipse on Monday, April 8? Here are some of the viewing parties happening across our region:
◦ The Detroit Riverfront Conservancy is hosting a viewing party on Monday at Cullen Plaza and the DNR Outdoor Adventure Center. Eclipse glasses will be available, plus themed-snacks and a special telescope for optimal viewing with staff from the Huron Clinton Metroparks.
◦ Michigan's State Parks will have several opportunties to see Monday's eclipse! According to NASA's Eclipse Explorer, coverage is predicted at the following locations: Erie State Game Area in Erie (99.98% totality), Sterling State Park in Monroe (99.8% totality) and Lake Hudson Recreation Area in Clayton (99.3% totality). Additionally, Michiganders can watch from locations like Belle Isle Park in Detroit (99.4% totality expected) to Fort Wilkins Historic State Park in Copper Harbor (75.3% totality expected).
◦ The Toledo Zoo is hosting Total Eclipse at the Zoo on Monday from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Enjoy animal demos, character meet & greets, a bounce house, musical entertainment and other fun activities while viewing the eclipse from the path of totality in Toledo. Eclipse related activities are included with Zoo admission.

The Wizard of Oz at the Boardwalk Theatre in St. Clair, Mich.

We're off to see the wizard with this beloved classic that has entertained audiences for generations! L. Frank Baum’s novel comes to life onstage at the Boardwalk Theatre in The Wizard of Oz featuring all the most beloved songs and moments from the 1939 classic film. Young Dorothy Gale is swept away by a tornado from her Kansas farm traveling over the rainbow to the magical land of Oz.
